"I have always loved food and come from a family where food is an important part of daily life and even more so when we have something to celebrate! I saw a really inspiring video of the Culinary Arts Academy and after making a visit to see the campus, I was hooked. I loved the atmosphere, the location and the small classes where we work side by side with the chefs.
It was an amazing and international experience, which taught me the importance of teamwork. I learned to cope in a team where there are different personalities and nationalities working towards a common goal – the team is only as strong as its weakest link. This was great training for my current role where I work with chefs from Portugal, Japan, Spain, Italy and France to name just a few.
Just before I graduated I attended the International Recruitment Forum and was really fortunate to receive a job offer from the Park Hyatt, Paris Vendôme. Working in the Michelinstarred restaurant, Pur, under Jean- Francois Rouquette has been an amazing experience. We work with exceptional ingredients and use methods where the attention to detail is exceptional. I see that my training has really prepared me for this role, especially the modules in gourmet and molecular cooking.
If I was to explain to another student why they should choose the Culinary Arts Academy, I would tell them that it is different from a classical training as we really learn everything that can be used in the profession and that you see a whole lot more than in other forms of training.
Living and working in Paris is an amazing learning curve for me. I am gathing the skills and knowledge which will help me to reach my goal of owning my own restaurant."
