How you'll spend your time...

The Introduction to the World of Culinary course lasts 1 week and runs throughout the summer months. It can be combined with 2 additional weeks of the World of Hospitality course for a full introductory session.

Ideal for 16 to 20-year-olds looking to take a first step into the world of culinary arts

Classes

Spend one week exploring Switzerland, making friends from around the world, learning the basics of culinary arts, including chocolate and pastry-making, to then return home with a new set of (delicious!) skills.

Your time with us will be split between learning about the various stages of culinary arts and social activities in the evenings. Here is a sneak peek at a typical day during your stay with us...

With an average class size of 15 students, your one-week session serves as the perfect entrée, with such courses including:

Fundamentals of Classical Cooking

  • Learn the practical basics required in any professional kitchen

Introduction to Menu Design

  • Discover the impact a well-prepared menu can make

Introduction to Chocolate & Pastry

  • While in the land of chocolate, discover this delicious fine art

Foods of the World

  • Travel the culinary globe and experience flavours from all around the world

Kitchen Management & Food Safety

  • Learn the essentials required in any professional kitchen

 

Duration & Requirements

The Introduction to the World of Culinary lasts for 1 week.

Our only requirement is that you have an English score of 4.5 IELTS (or equivalent).​

  • Sunday 16th July - Saturday 22nd July 2017
  • Sunday 30th July - Saturday 5th July 2017
  • Sunday 13th August - Saturday 19th August 2017

 

Course Fees

For the one week Introduction to World of Culinary course, the price of CHF 1,750.- includes a standard double bedroom, all meals and all activities and excursions. This can be combined with an additional two weeks to partake in the World of Hospitality course for a total, preferential price of CHF 5,000.-.

According to individual needs, health insurance, airport transfers and room upgrades are available upon request. Please request an admissions form for full details.

As an additional bonus, we appreciate that the Introduction to World of Culinary is exactly that - a chance to see if studying Culinary is right for you. For this reason, after completion of your two week introductory course, should you choose to enrol full-time in a Swiss Education Group school and undertake a 3 year bachelor degree, you will be reimbursed your World of Culinary fees on a pro-rata basis.
