Student LifeStreet food goes gourmet during High Street Gastronomy Event

A look behind the scenes of the passion and prep that goes into the Term 7 Gastronomic event where street food meets sophistication.

Our students have been busy ramping up preparations for their upcoming High Street Gastronomy banquet coming up on March 9th, 2018. What does it take to bring a full-scale epicurean event together? We sussed out Arsyan Dwianto, the Event Marketing Manager before the big night.

How did you and the team come up with this theme?
Street food is becoming increasingly popular and it's a great way to experience the culture of a country you're visiting. We've gained so much experience and picked up many skills throughout the course of our study and we thought it'd be an opportunity to showcase our talents by elevating street food to the next level and making it more sophisticated by fusing fine dining concepts into our food.

What can guests expect at your banquet?
You'll have to come to find out won't you! All I can say is, be prepared to have an explosion of flavours in your mouth! We are lucky to have students from eleven different nationalities in this term, which gives us a fantastic opportunity to present dishes from many different countries.

How is the preparation coming along? Any challenges?
Things are going good so far and everyone has been cooperative and working hard to meet our deadlines. We're putting the final touches to our menu and starting our mise en place. We're also finalising our decorations for the evening.

School to learn banquets management

This is the first time we as a team are organising an event for guests and up until two weeks ago, we were still unsure about the details of some of our expected guests. We will just have to keep an open mind and adjust our plans accordingly for any surprises. We're all very focused on making this banquet a success.

On behalf of the team, we hope that our guests will have a fantastic evening with us. A lot of effort has gone into making this event a memorable one, and we are very proud of what we have been doing and excited to show it to everyone.
